About Luzytee

Luzytee is an independent apparel studio running a direct-to-consumer, flexible production model. Since 2024 in Brooklyn, Luzytee has chosen to skip intermediaries so quality stays in hand, lead times stay short, and pricing stays clear. Every piece goes through one closed loop at the studio: fabric selection → cut & sew → print → inspect → pack → ship.

Story & how Luzytee works

Luzytee started with a simple goal: make graphic tees and hoodies that are easy to wear, hold their shape, and can be personalized without drama. Selling directly on the website lets Luzytee stay nimble for each request—ready-to-wear pieces are on hand, while small custom runs stay easy to place. The studio and warehouse sit at 2083 Union St, Brooklyn, NY 11212; the footprint is compact by design, organized by SKU / size / color, and, when the day allows, same-day dispatch is possible.

Core products: T-shirts & sweatshirts

The core catalog is T-shirts and sweatshirts. Ready-to-wear drops refresh seasonally with real product photos and clear sizing. For tees, Luzytee gravitates to cotton 180–220 GSM (either 100% cotton or cotton-blends that are pre-shrunk to limit shrinkage and anti-pilling to reduce fuzzing). For sweatshirts, the reference fabric is fleece 300–360 GSM, brushed inside, with rib cuffs/hem and double-needle at stress points to hold shape. Personalization is available—logos, photos, lettering, small design tweaks, even made-to-measure when needed—with a typical turnaround of 1–2 business days depending on complexity (simple prints are often faster).

Process & quality control

Fabric and trims set the tone. From 2024 onward, Luzytee has leaned on U.S.-based suppliers to shorten inbound time: Mood Fabrics (New York, NY) and Fabric Wholesale Direct (Westbury, NY) for core cotton/jersey; Pine Crest Fabrics (Portland, OR) and Texollini (Long Beach, CA) for performance knits; Polartec (Milliken & Company, MA) for sturdy, warm fleece; sewing threads from Coats (US). When speed or specific requests call for it, blank garments from BELLA+CANVAS (Los Angeles, CA) or Next Level Apparel (Garden Grove, CA) are finished and printed in-house. Naming sources helps Luzytee keep both quality and timelines transparent.

Each incoming lot at 2083 Union St gets a lot code and intake check. Luzytee measures GSM to match supplier specs (tees 180–220 GSM, fleece 300–360 GSM), checks dye uniformity, and runs shrink tests (cold wash, light dry) to see pre-shrink behavior. Swatches also get dry/wet rub tests to curb color transfer during printing and wear. Lots that pass move to cutting.

Cutting and sewing follow a house size chart. Front/back panels are laid out for minimal waste; side seams use 4-thread overlock, hems/cuffs use cover-stitch; the 1×1 rib collar (reference 95% cotton / 5% spandex) is stabilized with shoulder-to-shoulder tape. Stress points (neck seam, cuff joins) get bartacks. Before printing, garments are de-threaded, pressed flat, and re-measured.

Printing is matched to the artwork and run size. For flat colors and mid-to-large runs, Luzytee uses screen printing with Avient/Wilflex or Nazdar inks, typical mesh 110–156, and a target cure around 320 °F per ink data sheets. For multi-color gradients, small runs, or one-off personalization, DTF / HTV / DTG come into play; films, TPU powder, and press boards are sourced from Stahls’ or Siser North America. Heat-press references sit around 285–305 °F for 10–15 seconds under moderate pressure; pieces rest before folding. Every new design gets a strike-off to lock color, saturation, and coverage before a full run.

After print, garments pass a 12-point QC: final measurements, seam consistency, print adhesion/coverage, surface marks, shoulder tape, size/care labels, and packing. Approved pieces are sealed, labeled with SKU / size / color, and shelved; anything off-spec gets reworked or pulled. If a production-related issue still reaches a customer, options are outlined in Luzytee’s Return & Refund Policy on the website.

Custom orders use a separate lane for clarity: intake of files/ideas, a true-scale mockup for approval, a strike-off when helpful, then production. Care suggestions aim to keep print and shape in good form: cold wash, inside-out for wash/iron, avoid harsh bleach, low-heat tumble.
